Entopics

Entopics (2019). Digital drawings printed in transparency.

One of my first work lines was focused on the different interpretations that have been made of the stars as drawings, that is, the way in which different cultures have named the different images that they believed to recognize in the sky. Trying to point out their apparent arbitrariness and subjectivity, I used the entopic graphomania (a surreal drawing technique, which consists of connecting different spots or marks recognizable or apparent in a paper surface) as a method to generate unpredictable and random constellations.

One of the most important concepts that I handle is the cultural and perceptual changes generated in us by technological developments. In the case of this series, instead of using paper, I apply the entopic graphomania on the screen of my computer, looking for spots in its surface and drawing with a computer program. Therefore, with a fully digital process, I reflected the subjectivity of all these technological devices, as well as the virtual constellations of information and images around us.
